The Design Week Awards aim to showcase excellence and innovation in design, and acknowledge the role of design in every aspect of our lives.
The Awards are open to individual designers, design studios, agencies and clients established in Brunei Darussalam. The judging panel includes internationally respected designers and selected national industry professionals who are responsible for selecting the most outstanding design projects developed in the last five years.

Below are the judges for The Design Week Awards.
Jesvin Yeo is a Singapore-based multidisciplinary designer and educator. She graduated from NAFA in 1995 and built her professional career as a creative in the advertising industry. Jesvin has worked in prestigious advertising agencies such as Ogilvy, Y&R and Publicis before furthering her studies at Curtin University of Technology and Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design in London. She joined the School of Art, Design and Media at Nanyang Technological University as an assistant professor in 2008. Jesvin’s work ranges in subject matter from history to science and pop culture, spanning many genres, including experimental, observational and traditional visual communication. Jorge dos Reis was an apprentice to a typographic composer of a National Press first officer in the former Cais do Sodré Typography. He began his career by collaborating with the designer Robin Fior in Lisbon and with the typographer Alan Kitching in London. In 1996, he started his own studio, expanding his work experience and diversifying his design palette. His creative identity is now one of duality, being a designer and an artist. He creates graphics and typographic designs, while also exhibiting his drawings and paintings.
Peter Gould leads a strategic design team based in Sydney, Dubai & Jakarta. His own Gould Studio advocates for 'heart-centered design' to create meaningful brands, cross-cultural understanding and spiritually-inspired positive change. For over nearly 20 years, his clients have included the United Nations, Greenpeace, and Dubai Culture. His diverse portfolio ranges from senior government projects to $100m startups. He is a recipient of the Stanford Certificate of Innovation & Entrepreneurship and has lectured Design Thinking at the University of Technology, Sydney. His contributions to design have resulted in international acclaim, including a major award from the UAE Vice-President. In 2020, Peter was appointed as an Australia for UNHCR Ambassador in recognition of his efforts supporting refugees. At the intersection of design, spirituality & entrepreneurship, Peter aims to inspire a global heart-centered design movement for a bright, shared future. Mei Law is a Brunei-based designer with extensive experience in both fashion and interior design. Prior to opening Bello Cafe, she jump-started her designing career by placing 2nd in the ASEAN Young Fashion Designers Competition in Singapore in 1994 and representing Brunei in the ASEAN Design Show in Manila. She has worked with Singapore’s Club 21, designed for Bali’s Four Seasons Hotel and Hard Rock Hotel while her fashion designs have been featured in The Straits Time, Vogue Singapore and CNN. She managed an interior design firm for 12 years from 2006 to 2018, and still takes on interior design and renovation projects with one of them being the Brunei Darussalam Ministry of Education’s SEPaDU Office.
Hamdi Matussin, better known as NJ, is an award-winning ad man with over 15 years of experience in the creative industry and an extensive background in advertising and design. Currently the Creative Director of a Jakarta-based indie ad agency called Popcult, he is an impassioned storyteller with a flair for simple, intellectual and thought-provoking ideas that solve today’s problems and add value to people’s lives. NJ was the Chief Creative Officer of MixMedia prior to his current position and is also a collegiate of Limkokwing University of Creative Technology in Malaysia.
Hj Abd Kadir bin Hj Awg Hidup is a veteran in the field of design, having a design portfolio extending over four decades. He is currently the Head of the Design Department at Cityneon Display & Construction Sdn. Bhd. and the architect and interior designer behind multiple mosques, schools and government buildings in Brunei, including the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Shopping Complex. He started with a humble certification in construction to kickstart an exponential design journey, one that includes a HND in Interior Design, a BA in Architecture, a 14-year long teaching portfolio at Sultan Saiful Rizal College, and representing Bruneian designs at the 2005 World Expo in Japan.
